Asked at Every Tailgate Meeting
Composite or wood?
Composite costs more up front and asks nothing of you for twenty-five years. Cedar costs less, smells better, and wants a re-seal every couple of summers. We’ll lay samples on your tailgate and give it to you straight — including which one we’d put on our own house (composite, usually).
Do decks need a permit?
Anything attached to the house, over 30 inches high, or covered — almost always yes. It’s a fast permit and we pull it as a matter of course. An unpermitted deck is a problem you discover when you sell the house, which is the most expensive time to discover anything.
What season should we book?
Bids in late winter build in spring; that’s the calm window. By June the calendar’s fighting you. Siding and paint run all the dry months. Book the walk-through early — the bid holds for 60 days either way.
